The Loveliness of Autumn
Autumn is a lovely time here in the Great Plains. It seems that here in this area we have a mostly yellow fall with the Ash, Cottonwood, and Locust trees among many others.
This last week we ventured out as a family on an outing that is always a favorite. . . a trip to the apple to the apple orchard.
This local orchard does a lovely job of welcoming families and even provides an over-sized pumpkin patch, a corn field
maze and a gourd cave that the children can crawl into. It was a great afternoon!
Apple pies and apple crisps are among my kids favorite desserts. It wouldn't be fall without apple treats!
As summer comes to an end here, one huge difference we notice outside is the presence of
shadows. The light it changing. Darkness is slowly creeping onto us, but in the meantime this dappled and lowered sunshine puts on a magnificent display!
Check out our early Autumn View here in the Plains.
The presence of shadows! That's it! I was noticing the slanting light this weekend and thought of the setting sun and yet it was mid-afternoon. I guess autumn is a bit like a sunset itn't it. Lovely.
